Connect GitLab
This guide covers what to put into the connector form for GitLab.
Heplon authenticates as a service account on your top-level group. You need the Owner role on that group. On a self-managed instance you also need an administrator, unless the instance lets group Owners create service accounts.
1. Create the service account
In GitLab, open your top-level group and select Settings → Service accounts.
Select Add service account, enter heplon as its name, then select
Create service account.
2. Create its token
Next to the service account, select ⋮ → Manage access tokens, then Add new token. Set:
- Scopes:
api - Expiration date: your choice
Select Create personal access token and copy the token.
3. Add it to the group
In the same group, open Manage → Members and select Invite members. Invite the service account with the Developer role.
Heplon reads every project in the group and its subgroups. The api scope and
the Developer role also let Heplon push branches and open merge requests with
fixes.
4. Fill in the form
In Heplon, open Connectors, select Add connector, then GitLab.
GitLab is now connected to Heplon.
